Biography

Marc Davenport has over 34 years of auditing, accounting and advisory experience developed primarily through serving a wide array of financial services clients. He also has extensive experience with SEC matters, financial reporting and leading services to companies ranging from early-stage start-ups to large global organizations. He has been involved in various leadership activities throughout his career, including teaching, counseling and mentoring. Davenport is a long-time member of Haslam’s Department of Accounting and Information Management advisory board and has been consistently active in his community. He was a winner of the Pathbuilders Mentor of the Year award in 2010 and was selected by Business to Business Magazine as an Atlanta Business Impact Leader for 2011.

Executive MBA

With more than 30 years of experience in auditing, accounting, and advisory services, Marc Davenport helps executive leaders build the financial acumen needed to interpret complex financial information and make better-informed business decisions. As an Executive MBA core faculty member, he connects accounting concepts to the strategic realities leaders face across industries and organizations.

Davenport’s career has included advising organizations ranging from community banks to large global institutions. His work spans SEC reporting, initial public offerings, mergers and acquisitions, internal controls, and board-level financial oversight, providing students with practical insight into how financial decisions shape organizational performance and strategy.

In the classroom, he fosters a highly interactive, dialogue-driven environment that draws on real-world examples and executive experience. Students leave with a stronger understanding of financial and cost accounting and the confidence to use financial information to drive organizational impact.
